Services for Physicians
Physicians are welcome to use the resources of the Yale Brain Tumor Center. This page provides information on how to schedule an appointment for a patient with one of our specialists, how to obtain a second opinion with or without patient referral, and educational activities at YBTC.
How to obtain a second opinion
Referrals for Neuro-Oncology consultations or 'second opinions' can be arranged through our clinical coordinator, Betsey D'Andrea. Please call (203) 737 1671. 'Second opinion' requests without patient referral are also welcome. Please mail a brief case summary, pertinent imaging studies and histopathology slides (if available) to:
Joachim Baehring, MD

Cases are presented on Fridays at our weekly Tumor Board. This meeting is attended by at least one representative of all subspecialties of the Yale Brain Tumor Center. For the quickest turn-around, materials should be received by us no later than Wednesday. Results are available Friday afternoon after 3 pm. Please provide us with a phone number so that we can contact you. A written report is sent within one week of the conference. Please note that this service is currently only available for physicians. For review of pathology slides there is a charge of US $200. Otherwise this consultation service is free of charge.
How to schedule an appointment for a patient
If you would like to refer a patient to one of the specialists at the Yale Brain Tumor Center, please refer to the Meet the Staff page. Office contact information is provided for each physician.
Our clinical coordinator will be happy to assist you in making your patient’s visit as efficient as possible. Visits with more than one of our physicians may be necessary and can usually be scheduled on one day. Please contact her at (203) 737 1671 or (203) 785 2810.
Patients requiring multidisciplinary care are usually presented during the YBTC Tumor Board, a weekly conference that is attended by at least one physician of all subspecialties.
